One Battle After Another is an homage to the power of black female sexuality. On the surface it appears that Tiana Taylor’s character is just reinforcing another tired trope and racist stereotype: the hyper sexualized black woman. But a few layers under you realize that it is the mesmerizing power of the black pussy that is responsible for her ultimate, albeit tenuous freedom. The message is clear, the black pussy is so strong it can overcome racism, one racist at a time.
